My friend, Priscilla sent this to me and I found it of interest to post to all you parents and buyers of used childrens toys. I am still very careful about ALL childrens toys, new AND used when making a purchase or receiving as a gift to my kids.

I just wanted to pass on this info I just learned: a new federal law was just passed which states that you cannot sell used toys anymore unless you have sent them off to have them tested for lead. This also would apply to a garage sale: if an inspector happened to be passing by as you were selling used toys, you could get in big trouble. I'm not sure what that means for places like Goodwill--they may be big enough to afford to send their toys away to have them tested. I was just at Children's Orchard, a local resale store, and they no longer sell used toys because they can't afford to have them all tested. Kind of makes things harder. Lara

i know. i get scared buying anything these days without thoroughly researching the item carefully. not just kids toys, everything. i have banned "made in china" like the plague.
i find that the quality is better when i buy elsewhere.
